I'd Like to Share Your Post or Your Gig Info, But I don't Know Who You Are!

The other morning, I was sitting here in the sun, sipping my coffee and scrolling thru my FB newsfeed. I stopped in my tracks at something I noticed in quite a few of the band/venue posts this morning.

The gig graphics & videos you all are posting make me happy that our local music community is alive & kicking! They're eye catching, colorful & make me look into the gigs some more!

BUT ... yes, there's always a BUT - sorry ... I'm noticing something that's a pet peeve of mine as a social media manager.

That is ... you don't always add all of the info needed for your audience to know when & where you're playing!

Some graphics give us band name & time but don't mention a location & date ... some don't mention the band name but add a photo ... some just tell us you're playing but no other info! You get where I'm going with this, right?

When creating your posts - especially graphics & events - you should add, at the very least, the following: - band name - date - time - location including venue name, address, direction or cross street, town ... - website and/or socials, if available ... and anything else you think someone who doesn't know you needs to know about your gig!

If posting video, be sure to add a comment about who, where, when it was taken! We'd love to follow you if we like your video but we need to know who you are!

Don't always assume that FB & IG attaches everything you post - especially when it's shared by someone else to their page.

I can't tell you how many posts I can't share because I have no idea who you are or if it's a current post or one from 3 weeks ago!

If you're thinking "I don't know how to do that ...", well, send me a message on the ONstage-GTA page! I'm also a graphic designer who also does social media management, website creation and so, so much more! Let's chat!

OK, Sunday morning lesson ended, I'm going to have some more coffee!

Cheers! LisaM
